The Body Keeps Score
The Body Keeps Score
Here is a great clip with the author of this piece.
The connection of our “psycho” aka mind to our “somatic” aka body, is fascinating and real. We are so deeply interconnected that they are always influencing and effecting each other. The deeper you appreciate this is also the key to unlocking the ability to heal things that may have previously felt inaccessible. Trauma doesn’t have to mean what perhaps we have been led to think it means of a major “life altering event”. Trauma can take many shapes and forms.
I once was told from a therapist, there are small t’s and big T’s. One big T can have an immediate and long lasting impact on us. But, also, a series of small t’s can have accumulative and long lasting impact on us. Don’t sell your trauma short. Do the work, watch the body respond.
I love the part where we mentions navigating healing trauma is found in feeling safe in our body - I suggest giving this a listen and we are going to dive into this topic more!
