WEEK 1: DAILY RITUALS CHALLENGE
WEEK 1: DAILY RITUALS CHALLENGE
Welcome to Week 1! This Week is focused on exploring, learning and building your MOVEMENT Daily Ritual.
Movement is one of the four Human Essentials as part of the Body By Me Method. It is a vital component to so many systems within our body, and the connections between body, mind and energy (spiritual). Movement is the flow, much like water that keeps you moving. For an object in motion stays in motion!
For this week, each day (this is a daily practice aka ritual), explore finding a ritual that is simple and serves your basic needs of movement. So much of the information and narratives built around "wellness routines" are complex, expensive, time consuming, and therefore hard to maintain. This often is one of the causations of "fall off", "yo-yoing", frustration, and a cycle of progression and regression. What if I told you, this could all be avoided and it could all be so simple? Skipping the small foundational building blocks typically leads to an unstable base. We, are focusing on the small foundational building blocks. The ones as essential to your being as the rituals you already have made part of your day. Perhaps your morning always contains a coffee, brushing your teeth, making your bed. Those are indeed rituals and have become an essential component to your day starting off on the right foot. So now that you see you already have rituals (whether they are ones that aid to your overall well-being or ones that perhaps effect your overall well-being), they are rituals that you do. This challenge is about knowing you already have rituals for yourself, and now curating rituals to serve your goals of progress, transformation, and well-being. Consider this a shift, not doing something you've never done/had "success" with.
Guidelines for Rituals:
- Make the ritual something doable, simple but powerful when consistently done over time
- Make the ritual something with parameters you can stay accountable to. For example, making it measurable with time or an amount like 10 min of morning movement. This makes it easier to have a standard and guide to staying consistent and building the ritual.
- Start small. Remember rituals can always evolve and grow. Start with something that you know you can fit in your day, you can push yourself to do but not exhaust yourself with, something that will add/energize, something that you can build into something your already do in the day (ex: you watch tv every night so you can stretch and watch tv).
Ritual Inspiration:
- 10,000 steps a day (this sounds like a lot
- 10 min of morning mobility
- Walking daily (range from 15 min to 45 min)
- Foam Rolling and Stretching for 15 min before bed
- Doing a 20 min Workout every day
- 15 min of dance daily
- 60 sec plank every day
- 20 min cycle/spin daily
- Daily yoga practice
- 30 min of cardio of choice
And please note this challenge is about cultivating rituals by exploring and learning yourself. This doesn't mean you need to stick with the rituals you did Monday & Tuesday if you want to try another flow Wednesday. The goal is by the end of the week to land on the ritual that feels right for you to continue for the remainder of the challenge.
You can use the daily journal in this group to help make notes and keep record of your exploration process. Once you find your Movement Ritual, plug that into the Challenge tracker worksheet in the Movement category!
Please share as much as you can in this group for not only reasons of Accountability, but because of the spirit of INSPIRING one another. I think we often view these "small steps" as basic and boring due to the sensationalization of wellness on social media. But it isn't boring, and in fact I personally find it even more inspiring to see others delving into the joy of exploring their human needs. Whether its finding the joy in walking every day or getting daily sunshine, its a beautiful thing. So let's share and grow over these next 4 weeks!
