WEEK 2 DAILY RITUALS CHALLENGE
Welcome to Week 2! This week is focused on building out NOURISHMENT daily rituals.
First, let's talk nourishment. In our method, we refer to this Human Essential as nourishment because what we put into our body extends beyond just food. Even to take hat further and look at how we have been conditioned to look at food, it extends far beyond counting calories or hyper focus on macronutrient restrictions or standards (carbohydrates, fat and protein).
This category can seem daunting because it often becomes mental warfare of what you want to consume your body presents consequences for, and you have to dread the stuff that your body needs. This is where we come in - with a strong and fiery passion to completely course correct this belief system.
1. Nourishment is what we want you to view it as from this moment forward. The standard is nourishment. Not restriction, dieting, food being your waistline or inflammatory enemy, not the thing your crave or try to control, not the emotional response vice grip, not the thing you have as a chore. Food, water, nutrients, herbs, sunshine, breath, love... all nourish you. Our body every day expends, heals, transforms, adapts, and keep you thriving. Nourishment is what we give back for its incredible and deeply extensive tasks it does 24/7. Nourishment is saying "I care about myself, I love myself, I appreciate my body". The toxic relationship ends here. This is the most sacred relationship, it's you and the house you live in and the systems that provide life.
2. Other forms of nourishment. We certainly emphasize food and hydration as our main sources of nourishment, but don't feel stuck in a box during this challenge. Really explore all forms of things that nourish you. There is nourishment of the mind, nourishment of the soul, there is nourishment of the nervous system. If it is something that gives you energy and life and elevates your well-being, then it is a nourishment ritual.
3. Learning what nourishment your body needs. The point of this challenge is as much about exploration as it is consistency. You can consistently do things that do not serve you. In fact we probably can all draw an example of something we are consistent doing that in turn is causing problems (I know right off the top of my head - holding my phone in weird positions and having postural consequences). Also we really want to inspire the culture of self exploration because there is SO much influence with the wellness algorithm on social media, of others telling you about yourself or planting seeds from the basis of fear and not necessarily what we need to do. A lot of the overabundance of information now out there is all about "avoid this", "don't do this if you want to be skinny", " careful of this"... it is such a fear mongering capitalistic place it is easy to even subconsciously build your routines and practices from someone else's fear versus what YOU really need.
So this week pick a daily ritual in the realm of NOURISHMENT and observe. You can try different nourishment rituals throughout the week and see what you land on to complete for the remaining of this challenge.
As a reminder, whatever MOVEMENT ritual you landed on last week is now part of your daily rituals all through to the end of the challenge (and hopefully beyond!).
NOURISHMENT RITUAL INSPO:
- a daily water consumption amount (ie: 1 gallon *note we will post a guide for hydration in the Health is Wealth Group)
- have breakfast every morning
- consume water and food before coffee
- do a lemon water in the morning
- have a daily ginger daily instead of coffee or other beverage
- make a circadian timing of eating routine - ie: not eating 4 hours before bed, so having last meal earlier
- having two green veggies a day
- eating a fermented food or other form of probiotic food source each day
