Stress magnifies the more you focus on it. Feeling overwhelmed? Break up that focus. Do something the polar opposite of that "stressful thing". Ie: if the current news and anticipation of political outcomes is stressing you out, turn off the news for a bit and go for a walk. If budgeting and bills are stressing you out, then go do something that requires $0.00 like watching the sunset. If your body and chronic pain or weight gain is stressing you out, go laugh with friends.
You need to teach your brain that there are other POV's, other ways, that these things although stressful are not the end all be all. There is always a sunrise, or laughter, or a walk that awaits. Stress will create the prison bars if you allow it. I promise you stress is just some fog on the glass that when you wipe it clear, you can see everything again.
