Mental Shift
Mental Shift
In this moment I want you to hit the "shift" key on your mental keyboard. This may be one of the smallest but most impactful shifts of them all. The difference of drag versus gratitude... of to do list vibes versus opportunity... of chores versus a gift.
The lens in which you view doing the acts of care in all the realms of your Human Essentials can change the act itself. An example many of us can relate to is going to a job you hate. You are probably going to dread it, not perform as well as you could at it because your investment/care about it is low, your energy is going to be compromised as it is not in alignment with who you are, and you may make your paycheck, but probably end up spending most of it on things to help "numb" or distract from the dread. Not a very net positive experience although you are doing what should be a "net positive" in what is expected or required of you, aka making money. Doing a workout because you feel like you 'have to' for what you ate to to keep weight off, eating the kale with enormous dread and lack of enjoyment, going for a walk and dragging your feet thinking about the couch you would rather be on, looking in the mirror with hate and judgment... none of these things are moving you towards a net positive. They are just keeping you spinning in the same, un-sustainable place.
You are a gift. The entire you, all your parts and pieces. The fact you get to tend to you and keep YOU flourishing is a gift. One that often is appreciated once the opportunity is gone.
There is so much joy in the process when you lead with it in everything that has to do with caring for you.
