Eye Spy Walks
Eye Spy Walks
Walking is one of the most fundamental and effective movement practices for one's health and well-being. From improving circadian rhythm and sleep, to increasing circulatory and lymph flow, to reducing stress... the list of benefits go on and on. It is something we often do not nearly do enough due to overlooking its simplicity and under-assuming the overall benefit.
The perfect two for one special of reaping both physical and mental benefits is the reason that even when you have limited time - you should make walking an essential to your day.
For myself, walking has made a huge difference in helping mental clarity during a work day. Breaking up the rhythm of my mind being focused on tasks with a walk has balanced the "doing" with "being". I created Eye Spy Walks unintentionally one day, as I was walking and wanted to draw my mind to the present moment. I started looking around at things I had never noticed although I had previously walked that route countless times before. But, before I was walking and thinking about what I had to do next, or my mind was bouncing around from thought to thought and then down at my screen of my phone.
Eye Spy Walks are picking a category ie; anything blue, flower blooms, types of plants, a certain letter, and walking in a state of observation for those things. Then snap a picture and at the end you have your Eye Spy Walk photo grid.
In the Proof in Progress Group I am going to personally share my Eye Spy walks and what the category that week is. I encourage you to share yours there as well. Attached are two templates you can use and the example of one. One is a photo you can screenshot and use (I would use it in something like Instagram stories and add photos onto of the frames), or for those who have Canva, a template that you can add your photos into. Also you can do your own way of displaying, make it your own!
