the art of slowing down
the art of slowing down
Your nervous system is the master switchboard.
It gathers information and is the output of information - meaning it is constantly playing the movie from the script we are writing.
Constantly rushing is providing the information to our nervous system that something is wrong…something is urgent… that we must activate fight or flight mode. Then the feedback loop is born - prolonged elevated stress response becomes demanding and tiring. And it continues so on… like a snowball rolling down a hill… gathering more debris and becoming greater.
We stop these loops with small acts. Small moments of awareness. This HAS to come before a supplement bottle or a protocol because if you ultimately don’t address this nervous system loop, those things can only be so effective and will loop back.
Easier said than done - trust me I get it, we live in a time that we confuse being in traffic with being chased by a lion, or get bombarded with the amount of information that is comparable to watching 16 movies a day. We are burnt out circuit boards with improper wiring. But we can rewire, we can restore, we can heal.
Start small. Just become aware of rushing - then slow down. Pause. Take a moment to appreciate something around you. When you reach for your phone to scroll, put it down.
